Posts:

1. Sept 12th Mission Statement
The purpose of the post was to make clear the mission of our blog and what we hope to accomplish through this project. The post goes through our different objectives, and our target audience.

2. Sept 18th Resources
One of our goals in our mission statement was to provide resources for those who are struggling with suicidal thoughts, as well as those who know someone who is struggling with suicidal thoughts. I feel it’s important to raise awareness of centers, and resources that are already available to the public.

3. Oct 1 Take the Pledge
Tackling the entire issue of suicide would be near impossible, especially with a social media blog. Social media is more effective in changing attitudes. Therefore I posted about the end the stigma campaign. Individuals can pledge to end the stigma against mental health.

4. Success Story
I decided to post the images of Kevin Briggs and Kevin Berthia because Kevin Berthia is a story of success. In media we often see images and stories of tragedy but I think it’s important to shed light on success.

5. Kyle’s Story
Kyle’s story is another story of success, to shed light on the positives. Students can relate to Kyle’s story because he is closer in age.

6. Junhao’s Lesson on Happiness
I posted this to encourage our readership. Not only is Junhao adorable and fun to watch, he also teaches a valuable lesson on happiness.

7. How to pick yourself up
I posted the image as a little reminder that self care is important. It’s easy to get caught up in the business and stress of life, but it is so crucial to step back and show some love to yourself.

8. It’s okay not to be okay
As mentioned above, one of our goals through our blog was to change the stigma against suicide.

9. Kevin Briggs Ted Talk
I posted this video to give more insight into Kevin Briggs’ experiences. Kevin talks about his experiences with both success and non success stories. He also discusses the various ways to approach a suicidal person.

10. Suicide Prevention Hotline
I decided to make my last post a more serious one. I wanted to finish with serious resources on where one should call if they need help. I added a gif of the late Robin Williams as a reminder that suicide effects everyone. But no one ever needs to suffer alone.

Emblem

For the emblem, I helped in creating the image through photoshop. Throughout our project, our focus became more on changing the attitude towards suicide rather than trying to end suicide. We decided on this emblem because we felt that a sense of community is crucial to our goal. It’s important to demonstrate that people care, and are willing to stand up for those who are suffering. We also added the yellow ribbon, as a national symbol for suicide prevention .
